RE: Gas Prices

I just got done reading the opinion page in the macomb daily. I like it, because some people have great opinions to share. Some people are just simply ignorant.

If you check it out today, check out the opinion article about gas companies price gouging. The writer seems to think that every gas station is in cohorts, raising gas prices the same amount at the same time. I have three words: price per barrel. I'm no expert, but I believe that it's the oil companies overseas - out of any US jurisdiction that are upping the price. Gas stations can't operate by selling gas at a loss, can they? So the prices go up. Not because some corporate meeting between Mobil, Speedway, BP, and a few other companies arbitrarily decided to raise the price $.10 today, but because they're increasing the price per barrel of crude. The only solution I can see is to invade a mideastern country. I think they already tried that though.

And I'm sick of bitching about prices. Let's go through a couple scenarios.

Good: "Wow, 2.89? That sucks."
Acceptable. You mention discontent and move on with your FUCKING LIFE.

Bad: "These gas prices are unacceptable! They just keep rising! This is rediculous!"
OMFGSTFUBBQNOOB. Seriously.

Get the fuck over it. It's costing you a few bucks more for a fill. Prices go up, shit happens, GET OVER IT.

I know bitching in livejournal does nothing, but jesus, I needed to rant.
